You have done all the homework and found out the best way to get in touch with the professional pet sitter/dog walker. Reaching out to them by their preferred method will help move things quicker. Some will prefer to get a text message because it is easier for them to answer a text right away. Some will want a voicemail but they may not check their voicemail until the end of the day. Some prefer emails so they have all the information visually in front of them. No matter how you reach out they should let you know how long it will take to get back to you.
It may seem frustrating to think it may take up to 24 hours to get back to you. That is what my response says but that is in case I run into an emergency. First, during the day the professional pet sitter/dog walker is out making visits with dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, chickens, whatever creature needs their care. Second, when they are on visits the need to be focused on the pets and making sure they follow the directions for the pets. Third, sometimes we go into a house and find an emergency. We find a pet has gotten sick and not only do we clean it up but we try to figure out what got them sick in the first place. We also have to in touch with the client to work out going to the vet if needed. A professional pet sitter/dog walker wants to make sure they can give you their undivided attention.
Listen to their message or if you get a reply email read carefully. There are times when they give you instructions such as ask what town you live in, what kind of pet, what dates you are looking for, what type of service, and there are other things they may ask. Sending them or leaving a voicemail with that information may speed up the process a bit. They may be able to tell they are not available or that they are and will want you to start the intake process.
There will be an intake process which we will discuss in our next blog.
